Activities

According to the needs of our partner Catholic institutions of higher education, the study programs for undergraduate and graduate students of the Académie Cor Iesu can take the form of week to semester-length courses, in keeping with the course requirements of each university faculty, and weekend or week-long conferences and workshops which can enhance the content and delivery of preexisting university faculty-approved courses. The ACI is also in position to work with faculty on regular or periodic joint research projects. All of these programs can be run in either in person or online formats.

A sample of the academic disciplines and fields of study which fall under the competencies of the ACI include :

Anthropology
Archaeology
Art History
Economics / Business
French Literature
History
International Studies
Language
Law
Management

Medicine / Nursing Studies
Music
Philosophy
Political Science
Psychology
Religious Studies
Social Communications

Theology

The ACI can also organize faculty retreats, on-going formation and seminars for professors, programs for university trustees and donors, and university administrators.

Although the home town of the ACI provides a peaceful setting to promote study, reflection and dialogue, which are so crucial to foster intellectual formation and learning, the fact that Paray-le-Monial is easily accessible to those coming from the cities of Lyons and Paris means that it is possible to collaborate with university professors and professional experts who can be present to engage students and faculty in all of our study programs. In addition, the ACI has a network of contacts with other institutions of higher education and cultural, economic, political, scientific and religious institutions in the region, in France, and across Europe. These resources, along with the region's intrinsic multicultural links in Europe and the Mediterranean world, enable the ACI to provide opportunities to build “bridges of understanding” and promote learning links between university students and faculty from various political, ethnic, religious and cultural backgrounds.

The ACI also exists to serve the local community by regularly organizing conferences, training programs and other types of interactive learning opportunities in theology and other related disciplines in collaboration with the Diocese of Autun, Chalon-sur-Saône, and Macon for the people of Paray-le-Monial and the surrounding region throughout the year.
